Camping Tips

Sometimes, disconnecting from the familiar lifestyle and escaping for new experiences, surrounded by nature and in the company of different species, is a great idea, and camping can be an excellent choice to unwind and relax.

In this post, we provide some tips to consider when going camping.

Be mindful of animals

Before going camping, we recommend that you gather information about the local wildlife and take precautions, such as always carrying repellent to prevent mosquito and other species from biting you during your stay, as well as creams or ointments to relieve itching.

Choose the right spot

When setting up your camp, look for a location where you can be safe, meaning it’s a flat area, and avoid pitching your tent on clayey or uneven terrain where there might even be stones and large branches that could complicate your stay.

Bring the necessary camping equipment

For setting up your camp, the basics include bringing a tent and accessories like camping chairs, a small table, and a tarp that can be placed over the camp to protect you from rain, snow, or falling branches.

Remember your lighting equipment

During your journey, we recommend carrying a lantern to illuminate the surroundings and having a flashlight on hand to stay aware of what’s happening around the campsite.

Pack the right clothing

Try to wear appropriate clothing throughout your trip: during the day and on hikes, opt for lightweight and comfortable clothing that allows you to stay cool; at night, bring a warm jacket and thermal clothing to keep you snug. Layered outfits will be your best allies since knowing the order of your clothing allows you to take it off or put it on as needed.

Plan your food and water supplies

If you’re wondering what food to bring for camping, the first rule is not to go with the bare minimum; it’s always better to pack a bit more in case you need it, want to share, or decide to stay a few extra days. If you plan to cook at the camp, don’t forget pots, ladles, plates, and cups. Chocolate and peanut butter are your best options when you need an energy boost.

Protect and care for the environment

When it’s time to leave, make sure not to leave any trace or trash behind. The whole point of going camping for the first time is to leave the place as you found it, or even better. Remember that the environment, flora, and fauna of the area are your hosts, and it’s your responsibility to respect them.
